How Families Flourish

Why attend the Weekend Intensive?

My Weekend Intensive Training is an immersion program for parents who want to accelerate the transition to an optimized family. I often hear from parents that they put off completing all the worksheets and constructing a Family Charter. They have self doubts and question their innate ability to create the household harmony and family life satisfaction they deserve to have. They want to explore the “what-ifs” and troubleshoot potential problems before they act on making the changes in their household they already know they need to make. They want to get support and encouragement from other parents who are also on the journey to becoming “one of the happiest families on earth.”

Who should attend?

Parents with children enrolled in 5th to 10th grade and who observe that their child is

  • confronting self-esteem issues
  • experiencing a pessimistic world view
  • lacking self-confidence
  • finding little meaning and purpose to their lives
  • exhibiting mild to moderate behavioral health or discipline/control problems or
  • having difficulty adjusting to self-determination versus peer pressure

get the highest value from this training. I encourage both parents to attend the Intensive whenever possible. If both parents live in the home, it is required that BOTH parents (or in-home caregivers) attend the Friday evening module. Please note that this is not a mental health treatment but rather a life satisfaction and well-being modification program.

What will the Intensive teach me?

Some of the topics covered include how to

  • incorporate the common characteristics of the happiest families on earth into your daily life
  • avoid the mistakes floundering families make
  • build individual and family well-being and family life satisfaction for all family members
  • identify which fundamental character strengths belong to each member of the family and how to access them
  • teach your child to practice self-reliance and self determination
  • increase positive emotional experience for all family members
  • deepen resilience to family life challenges
  • influence  character strengths development in your child
  • support good self-esteem
  • develop a well-functioning household where each member contributes without complaint
  • inoculate at-risk children from anxiety and depression
  • communicate respectfully even during family conflict
  • move from a pessimistic to optimistic mindset
  • encourage family vitality
  • reinforce goal setting strategies and problem solving barriers
  • construct the Family Charter – a written manifesto of what you expect your family life to look like

What are  the hours of the Intensive?

Parents meet on Friday from 7-9 PM and Saturday  from 9 AM to 4 PM. Parents and their children over the age of 8 are invited to meet on Sunday from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The purpose  of the Sunday meeting is to introduce your child to the program and give them an opportunity to ask questions to clarify the Family Charter component and other action steps you will implement.

Important Tip

I find that scheduling an hour for a family meeting to reveal the Family Charter as soon as you get home from the training on Sunday is the ideal time to present it to your family. Children are more receptive and parents feel highly empowered to follow-through on revealing the Family Charter as soon as the Intensive is completed.

This is a modular program and  each component is essential to achieving maximal success with minimal headache. Please  make certain you can attend the entire Intensive, arrive on time and stay throughout the program.

Cost of The Weekend Intensive is $350.
